Berezyuk successfully combined managerial work with pedagogical and scientific activities. He is one of the leading scientists in the field of computing and cybernetics. He gave lectures on the courses "Computer Architecture" and "Coding Theory", developed lectures on the new specialty "Computer Systems and Networks", organized the department. Compiled and published many educational and methodological manuals with a total volume of 65 printed sheets, including three textbooks "Structural Design of Automata and Algorithms", "Coding Theory", "Architecture of Computers and Systems", managed diploma design, training of graduate students.

Berezyuk was fascinated by the creation of a new concept and research methods for the design of algorithms and structures of on-board computers and systems. His successful defense of his doctoral dissertation in 1971 allowed him to develop a scientific direction in the field of control systems and digital processing of on-board information. Mykola Tymofiyovych successfully combined scientific and research work with teaching activities. Author of 175 scientific works, including eight monographs and textbooks. He trained six doctors and 38 candidates of sciences. He managed the ongoing seminar "Problems of Design Automation", which was conducted by the Institute of Cybernetics of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine.

Under the leadership of rector Berezyuk, the methodology and content of studies at the institute were improved, new forms of student training were created, the institute's connections with industry were expanded, and the material base was developed. Computer centers were organized at faculties, a number of branches of graduating departments at enterprises were created, new faculties appeared: engineering and managerial faculties, the faculty of improving the qualifications of teachers of the country's higher education institutions, managers and specialists of the national economy, the faculty of pre-university training, the department for training foreign citizens. An educational and scientific center for open information and computer integrated CAD/CAM/CAE technologies, a scientific research institute for physical modeling problems, and a number of new specialties were created.

In 1986, the construction of the training and laboratory building of the faculty of aircraft was completed, the house of young specialists was put into operation (1989) and a residential building for teachers and employees of the institute (1996).

For his labor and social activities, Berezyuk was awarded state and government awards: the "Badge of Honor" order (1986), the medal "For valiant work in commemoration of the 100th anniversary of the birth of V. I. Lenin" (1970), the title "Honorary Aircraft Builder of the USSR" (1988).
