1. General regulations

1.1 Regulations on studying of higher education applicants according to the individual schedule at National Aerospace University «Kharkiv Aviation Institute» (hereinafter, the Regulations) are developed in accordance with the laws of Ukraine "On Education" dated 05.09.2017 № 2145-VI11 (as amended), "On Higher Education" dated 01.07.2014 № 1556-UII (as amended), the Charter of the University (hereinafter, the Charter).

1.2 The Regulation is designed to realise the right to higher education for persons with special educational needs and other categories of persons who are unable to attend scheduled classes for valid reasons, i.e. studying on an individual schedule.

1.3 The Regulation regulates the legal framework for the transfer of a higher education applicant to study on an individual schedule and the organization of such studying. It defines grounds, conditions and the procedure of the transfer and organization of studying according to an individual schedule in order to meet the requirements of the educational (educational-professional, educational-scientific) program of the first (bachelor's) or second (master's) levels of full-time higher education.

1.4 Terms in the Regulation are used in the following definitions:

1) studying on an individual schedule is a form of organization of the educational process, in which the components of educational programs are studied by the higher education applicant independently under the condition of full control of learning outcomes provided in the work programs of courses;

2) The individual studying schedule (Appendix D) is a document that determines the procedure for organizing a person's studying according to an individual schedule;

3) the plan for individual studying of the academic discipline (Appendix B) is a document that determines the order of self-study under the control and with the help of teachers of the discipline, which is studied on an individual schedule and contains information on the organization of individual work on content modules and calendar terms of current and semester control with marks of performance;

4) The teacher-supervisor of individual studying is a scientific and pedagogical worker who draws up a plan for individual study of the discipline, provides educational and methodological support, advises, assists and monitors its results;

5) a person with special educational needs is a person with a disability who, in accordance with the principles of state policy in the field of education and principles of educational activities, has the right to access higher education and equal access to education in accordance with Articles 3 and 6 of the Law of Ukraine "On Education";

6) educational (educational-professional, educational-scientific) program is a system of educational components of the appropriate level of higher education within the specialty, which determines the requirements for the level of education of applicants, the list of disciplines and the logical sequence of their study, the number of ECTS credits to master the program, as well as the expected learning outcomes (competencies) that must be mastered by the higher education applicant at the appropriate level of higher education.

2. Conditions and grounds for establishing an individual study schedule

2.1 The individual study schedule is set for one semester, its purpose is to ensure full implementation of the semester curriculum.

2.2 All higher education applicants who do not have any academic or financial debts are entitled to study on an individual schedule.

2.3 The individual study schedule provides for the possibility of selective attendance of classes, self-study of the material of academic disciplines and the implementation of all types of compulsory work in accordance with the curriculum and plans for individual study of academic disciplines (Appendix B). It does not provide additional classes and consultations for applicants.

2.4 To control the implementation of all tasks provided in the work program of the discipline, a teacher-supervisor of individual education is appointed by the decision of the first meeting of the department of the current semester who is to supervise each plan of individual study of the discipline (Appendix B).

2.5 The individual study schedule is established if appropriate documents for the following categories of higher education applicants are available:

1) persons with special educational needs, i.e. those who cannot attend classes on a daily basis (confirmed by a decision of a health care or social protection institution);

2) persons who have children under the age of 3 (confirmed by a copy of the child's birth certificate) or are raising a child with special needs (confirmed by a decision of a health care or social protection institution);

3) pregnant women who cannot attend classes (confirmed by a medical certificate);

4) persons who need a long (up to 6 months) break in classes for health reasons (confirmed by a medical certificate);

5) persons participating in research work outside the University;

6) persons who take an active part in the sports life of the University (members of the national teams of the University, masters of sports, candidate masters of sports);

7) persons working at relevant positions in the specialty (confirmed by a certificate from the organization or enterprise);

8) persons who leave to study at another institution of higher education (including foreign) under academic mobility programs (confirmed by relevant agreements).

2.6 This Regulation does not extend to persons enrolled in a dual education program on the basis of relevant organizations and enterprises. Registration of studying of such persons is carried out according to separate documents regulating the organization of studying in a dual form.

2.7 The Rector of the University may, if necessary, establish an individual study schedule for individual higher education applicants in other cases if there are objective grounds.

3. The order of transfer to an individual studying schedule

3.1 To transfer to an individual study schedule, the higher education applicant submits to the dean's office an application addressed to the Rector of the University (Appendix A), / documents confirming the grounds for transfer specified in paragraph 2.5 of the Regulations are attached to the application.

3.2 The application for the individual study schedule for the next semester is submitted before its beginning.

3.3 Within five working days from the date of submission of the application, the faculty administration checks the compliance of the submitted documents with the requirements of the Regulations and in case of compliance, the dean decides to provide a higher education applicant with an individual study schedule for the current semester. The procedure for preparing a decision on providing an individual schedule to the higher education applicant is determined by the academic council of the faculty at the first meeting of the current semester.

3.4 After the decision of the dean to provide an individual study schedule, within three days he should provide the rector:

- a memo with the justification for the possibility of transfer of a higher education applicant to an individual study schedule;

- an application of a higher education applicant (Appendix A) and documents confirming the grounds for transfer;

- a draft order on the transfer of a higher education applicant to an individual study schedule (Annex B).

3.5 After signing the order by the rector under item 3.4, the dean acquaints the Deputy for Academic Affairs with it, who briefs the heads of departments that organize studying of a higher education applicant on an individual schedule, the head of the academic group and the higher education applicant himself.

3.6 The Deputy Dean for Academic Affairs makes a note with the original data of the order in the journal of the academic group opposite the surname of a higher education applicant, who is approved to the individual study schedule.

4. The procedure for drawing up an individual study schedule and plans for individual study of academic coursesн

4.1 The individual study schedule (Appendix D) contains a complete list of courses that are studied individually in the current semester, as well as deadlines and reports on their study.

4.2 An individual study schedule is not introduced in the academic semester, if in accordance with the curriculum, there are no classroom studies of the theoretical course.

4.3 The individual study schedule is made by the head of the graduate department according to the plans for individual study of academic disciplines (Appendix B). Each plan of individual study of the academic discipline is made by the higher education applicant together with the teacher-supervisor of individual study on this discipline of the corresponding semester plan and is approved by the head of the department. The work on drawing up plans for individual study of academic disciplines is supervised by the Deputy Dean for Academic Affairs.

4.4 The individual study schedule includes all semester curricula and individual tasks (term papers, term projects, abstracts and other types of work) that the applicant must perform, as well as forms of current and final control and their deadlines. The schedule is signed by the higher education applicant and the dean of the faculty, and is approved by the vice-rector for scientific and pedagogical work.

4.5 The term of the individual study schedule isn’t supposed to be longer, as defined in the curriculum.

4.6 The individual study schedule and plans for individual study of academic disciplines are made in two copies, the first copy is kept in the dean's office together with the study card of a higher education applicant until the end of education, the second one is given to the higher education applicant.

5. Individual Study Schedule Organization

5.1 Teachers-supervisors of individual study select necessary educational-methodical materials and means of control, which should help to study the educational material provided in the curriculum independently. The department provides free access to the developed educational and methodological support in electronic or printed form, and the higher education applicant must use the materials during individual study.

5.2 The teacher-supervisor should hold review sessions, check tasks for independent work and tests in accordance with the semester schedule of review sessions. There is no separate time for counseling of higher education applicants who study according to an individual schedule.

5.3 The applicant should complete the tasks that require classroom performance according to the general schedule and work program of the discipline. There is no separate time for classroom work on an individual schedule.

5.4 The higher education applicant should work off missed educational activities that are to be done according to the individual study plans of academic disciplines (Appendix B) in the terms specified in the schedule of review sessions of the teacher-supervisor of individual study.

5.5 Departments are obliged to review the results of higher education applicants on a monthly basis according to an individual schedule and make decisions on continuing or terminating individual education.

5.6 Successful implementation of an individual study schedule is the basis for admission of higher education applicant to semester control.

5.7 The higher education applicant participates in the semester control on a general basis in accordance with the Regulation "On rating assessment of student achievement" СУЯ ХАІ-НАВ-П/003:2018.

5.8 The higher education applicant retains the right to receive an academic scholarship until the end of the period of final control, if at the time of drawing up individual study schedule he/ she received a scholarship .

5.9 Heads of departments supervise education of higher education applicants on an individual schedule.

6. Grounds and procedure for termination of studies according to an individual schedule

6.1 Permission to study on an individual schedule may be cancelled before the end of the semester. The reasons for this may be:

- a personal application of a higher education applicant in case of termination of one of the grounds specified in paragraph 2.5 of the Regulation;

- systematic non-observance by the higher education applicant of the individual study schedule, confirmed by an extract from the decision of the meeting of the department, which organizes studying according to the individual schedule.

6.2 In case of early termination of studies according to the individual schedule, the dean or his deputy for educational work shall notify the higher education applicant about it within three days.

6.3 Termination of studies according to an individual schedule is approved by the relevant order of the Rector of the University.

7. Rights, duties and responsibilities of the applicant studying on an individual schedule

7.1 A higher education applicant who studies on an individual schedule has the right:

- to participate in drawing up plans for individual study of academic disciplines and the formation of an individual study schedule;

- to receive individual review sessions using the distance learning support system.

7.2 A higher education applicant who studies on an individual schedule is obliged to:

- perform all types of tasks defined in the plans of individual study of academic disciplines in the terms established in the individual study schedule (Appendix D);

- be present at the educational events defined in the plans of individual study of educational disciplines (Appendix B) in the terms established in the individual study schedule (Appendix D);

- timely report to the Deputy Dean for Academic Affairs on the status of implementation of the individual study schedule;

- meet the requirements given in the Regulations to the full extent.

8. Final regulations

8.1 Regulations are considered and approved by the Academic Council of the University and put into effect by order of the Rector of the University.

8.2 Changes and/or additions to the Regulations are considered and approved by the Academic Council of the University and put into effect by order of the Rector of the University.
